Swoon – ing…

This weekend I jetted up to Boston, where we went to one of my favorite new museums, the Institute for Contemporary Art, Boston.

Saw a fantastic wall installation piece by Swoon as well as a cut-paper sculptural piece that hung next to the glass elevator – allowing viewers to peer in while going upstairs.

Other exhibits included furniture design by Roy McMakin and paintings by Charline von Heyl.

Architecturally, the ICA is amazing… a modern glass structure jetting out on the Boston Harbor. They even have a glass video room, where you feel enveloped in the water. . . a perfect place to put on headphones and watch some art videos.

Put this on your list if you are ever visiting Boston!

Best bets!

Outside the Box: update

The Outside the Box exhibit was a huge success! A weekend full of art openings and feedback on my piece, “With ‘Scapes and Scratches”.

I’d say over 500 people attended over both nights… YAY!

We got a lot of great press coverage – just what artists need! See the best two articles here at amylookscloser and Sun-Sentinel.com

I took the photos above of some of my favorite pieces by Anja Marais, Kenza Ayed and Cara McKinley.

New Exhibit: Outside the Box

Come out to see a great exhibit, including a new projected video/graphic work by me! Outside the Box is a two-night outdoor installation exhibit at Whitespace Collection in West Palm Beach. I do freelance graphic work for them and this year I was included in their 2011-2012 Special Projects (doing a 300 ft. long cut-paper installation) as well as the Whitespace Collection Art Palm Beach booth.

Sculpture, video work, installation and other multi-media pieces will be seen at Outside the Box. .. bonus: you can also go “inside the box” and see the Whitespace permanent collection. Their permanent collection includes fantastic contemporary photography, sculpture and painting by international artists… as well as local artists work such as my Cutting Words piece and a piece by fellow PBSC Art professor, Jackie Tufford.

The extra bonus of Outside the Box – its the first time I’ve had a former student (Kenza Ayed) exhibiting in the same show as me. This could be you next time!
