Lake Worth Street Painting Festival

Happening since 1994: over 600 artists will invade the streets of Lake Worth. If you have never been, definitely go downtown! Its so fun to walk around, its free and a great, local event.
You can even park at PBSC and get a shuttle to downtown!
See you there!
Critical critiques… a How To.

Hey students,
With classes starting to have critiques, lets keep in mind ideas surrounding “How to have a Critical Critique”
Being an artist/designer is about COMMUNICATION. In order to be “ambassadors of design excellence”, you must not only be able to communicate within your design, but outside of the design and in the critique/classroom setting.
I’ve compiled a few web links with some ideas on critical thinking and the critique process. As with a lot of things in art/design, critiques are subjective and you are certainly entitled to your own opinions and aesthetics. Check these out to continue the conversation.
1. “ Design Criticism and the Design Process” by Cassie McDaniel.
2. And a favorite short video from Ira Glass – my favorite NPR personality. “The Creative Process” – also has beautifully animated modern typography.
3. Great article on the Description, Analysis, Interpretation, Judgement model
4. Excellent article on “How to Crit” with a page of great additional resources
